SuperAgent,

It CAN be done, but it is not allowed. I believe you said earlier that this policy is with Allstate. Adding a second vehicle effective 3/02/09 is more than 30 days prior. The only reason it would be allowed is if you notified the agency within the 30-day window, but it was not processed properly due to an agency error. Doing it intentionally to benefit yourself is a violation of the agency standards and could have repercussions on your agency contract. (I am under the impression from your previous posts that you are an Allstate agent.)

That being said, if you process this change for yourself, and then you file a claim, you can expect SIU to investigate it very carefully.

christy......u r ABSOLUTELY CORRECT........i am impressed............christy suppose on 03022009 i called my exclusive allstate agent to add my 2nd vehicle....... but somehow he forgets to add the vehicle........later on after few months i came to know that my vehicle was not added ..... in that case what will Allstate do......it is not my fault and moreover what has happened cant be changed........... so what r the options???????

That scenario is the reason that Allstate's system has the ability to process a back-dated endorsement. If the policyholder reported it within 30 days, but the agent did not process it due to agency error, then it should be added back to the date of purchase.

Depending on the circumstances, however, you might have difficulty proving that you requested it within 30 days unless you requested it in writing and can prove it. If you are filing a claim on a vehicle that was never added, then they will want more than just a statement that you called it in but it wasn't done. That is one of the nice things about email ... the email system saves all correspondence with a date/time stamp. I NEVER delete email from policyholders, so when someone says that emailed something to my office and it was not processed, I can verify it.
