how do i become an insurance agent in n.c.

contact or go to NC's Dept of Ins. web site you will find (i would think) all kinds of licensing information etc. there..

You have to take up the licensing course, which would be of 40 hrs to obtain the license. Upon successful completion of the course you would become eligible to sell insurance in your state.

Hi Janice,
I am an NC agent.

You have to take the pre-licensing course for the type of insurance you wish to provide:
Life (includes annuities)
Health
Medicare Supplement (includes long term care, must have health license first)
Property and casualty.

You then have to take and pass the state exam.
I strongly reccomend John Quick for the pre licensing courses. He does it from a classroom setting in Raliegh.
