Personal Cold Calling

I've heard of Agents walking business to business to ask to quote their insurance. What are your opinions on this? Personally I think it would be a good change of pace, getting you out of the office. What do you guys think?

Selling insurance is all about building network with as many prospects as possible and IMO you might not restrict yourself to only few of the tested methods of selling. If you feel that you can spread your business more easily by walking into one's office you may do that, though I'm not sure how you'll be greeted if you walk-in without prior appointment, but as it says “ leave no stone unturned” :D

If the objective is to get out of the office for a change, I'd not object to the idea, but as paparazzi has mentioned you may or may not be welcome if drop-in uninformed. It'd be rather wise to make an introductory call and set-up an appointment prior to your visit, otherwise you may only beat around the bushes and waste precious time.

Inefficient.

If you want to contact business owners simply call them early in the morning BEFORE the secretary gets in.

Most successful business owners are in the office well before any staff.

Between the hours of 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM more likely than not it's going to be the owner of the business who answers the phone.

I know of a lot of Health Agents that just spend their day going to business to business, trying to talk to the owner.

"Cold Calling?" : I've had a few Insurance agents call me. Where they got my phone number is beyond me. When you are ALREADY frustrating about an agent calling your house ( and I may add, it was at 8:00 AM, on my day off!!) you don't want to hear what they have to say. Just my 'outlook' on this, anyway.

Most agents work a targeted list. If they are smart, they will never call during certain times of the day. It is not only important who you call, but what you say to them.

As an agent, the last thing you want to do is limit yourself. The best thing is to remain open to hearing new ideas, and new ways of marketing yourself.
This is what will help you grow your business, and be a legend in the long run.

If you're open to it, I'd like to discuss this with you further.
Feel free to respond if you'd like to learn more.
