Hi..in my opinion the auto insurance carriers would remain obliged cover your vehicle. Under normal circumstances if your car is damaged in an accident it is entitled to receive compensation up to the full coverage value mentioned in your auto insurance policy. I don't think it would hamper your claim if someone else would drive it. I'm sure you got my point!

Yes, generally the insurance carriers would cover your car irrespective of who the driver is..

I'd also say that there are certain norms to be satisfied in order to let your carrier cover others who are authorized to drive your car. The insurance carrier would like to make sure that the other person is driving with your permission. Regards, Evan

Hey, its not that you'd need give your consent every time your car is taken for a ride. But yeah, the person who is lending your car has to absolutely sure that he has your support. Thanks, Crossbreed

Purple, you auto policy stays with your vehicle as long as the driver has your permission to use it...something for you to think about while lending your car out all the time...if they are in an accident that is their fault..your policy pays...your rates increase for a long long time....not theirs....

My friend,

What I have experienced in this industry was sufficient enough to show me how policies of similar nature would vary between companies. That is one good reason why I feel it is absolutely necessary for us to go through the policy papers so carefully. It would help us understand the policy clauses and restrictions associated with other drivers.
Thanks, Roddick

Ditto Ditto Ditto.

And actually, it isn't difficult at all to say "NO" when someone asks to borrow your car.

"Hey Purp, mind if I borrow your car for an hour or so?"

"No."

"Dude, that's cold..why not?"

"Do you make the payments on my car? Are you going to pay the increase in my insurance rates if you get into an accident? Don't mean to sound cold, but I had a couple of bad experiences and they resulted in me losing a couple of friends. Our friendship means more to me than that. I will give you a ride though - hey...road trip!"

"Wow, Purp, you're the best. Let's go!"

hardly a guy forbid, if someone ask to borrow his/her vehicle. But he/she is borrowing that for a few hrs. not for life, After that again that willbe in your hands. Means it is all yours.
So, you must insure it.
