Can my wages be garnished if i do not have a steady job?

I was involved in an accident 9 months ago. I rear-ended a driver who had an abrupt stop. At the time I had no valid insurance due to financial issues (my insurance rate was $350/per month). I do not have a consistent steady job. I work erratically as a crew member on TV shows. It did not seem like there was much damage to the other persons car; the bumper sagged a little. Their insurance company quoted the other drivers damage at over $8,000. I have been getting calls from a representative from the collection service agency saying that if I did not make monthly payments of $250 a month to pay off the $8,000 that he would garnish my wages and suspend my license. I am no longer concerned about having good credit because it is too poor at this point to get back up. Any information would be great! Thanks!

When you have nothing to loose, you have nothing to worry so enjoy your life but what you have with you is a job though not steady but if the attachment orders are passed against you then you cannot do anything except thinking of Bankrupcy if you do not want to pay that $8000 in instalments.

What kind of advise is that? I guess no moral obligation at all huh? Well when a non-insured driver wacks the crap out of your car (8K in the rear end is one hell of a hit)...and you're injured, and have you pay your huge deductible, then (maybe) have no UMBI coverage, so no compensation for your injuries or loss work...Let's hear you're tune then...geeze, I can't believe that!

Johnny5 if the collection agency said they will garnish and pull your license, you can bet your bottom, they know the laws of your state...and yes, they most likely will and can, and good for them.
