Hey guys I was wondering if could get an opinion on the value of my car.
Here is the nitty gritty.
87' accord lxi 212000
deemed total loss
sunroof seal broken
tear in back seats from weathering by headrest
c.d. player
small previous dent on driver door
dirty but not torn carpets
all options for that model except leather
clean paint and clear coat
zip code 98310
Only place I can find value is NADA Classic car which I don't thing this is good example of that!
I am having a hard time finding comparable models in my area that are the same year and model. Do other cars that are the same generation count as comparable model?
Thanks for any help guys.

Chris

Also the main reason for the question of value is because Farmers insurance and CCC. I had a friend who said CCC gave Farmers an arguable amount of the ACV. This guy is no insurance guru so I thought I would ask those who really know what is going on.
Thanks again

Chris, please hang tight.....you'd soon hear from the community experts. They may help you in evaluating the value of the car. And, yeah, please add the mileage on the car.

Chris, based on the info you've provided, without seeing the car, I'd guess the value somewhere between 1300-1700, 1500.00 would be about right I'd think..we in the biz would call this just a hair above basic transportation...nada only goes to 1990 and highest value there (no lxi are you SURE it's not just 'lx'?) is about 2400 dollars, the difference between a 90 and 93 is about 800 bucks...you don't say if it's a 2 or 4 door ...so i'm basing my opinion on the highest one (4dr EX)...what is the value that ccc has come up with?

sorry about the lack of info guys. It is a 4 door lxi. 213000. lxi was the fuel injected model. In the eighties there was no ex, it is the highest trim level so I guess it would be considered the ex. Farmers is giving me a ACV of $700 and that just seems to low, but you guys are the experts so I was just double checking with you.

700 would be ''basic transportation' in other words, 'it don't look very good but it gets down the road' if it's not a total scrap heap, i'd try to get atleast 1k out of them...seriously it ought to be worth that if it's not in really bad shape

Thanks Lori I appreciate the info. I thought it would be about 1K. They said that $700 was there offer. Should I just come back with 1K or do you have any other advice?
Thanks again

I would tell them, you've done some checking around and can find some comp vehicles in the 1000-1200 range, see if they will budge...they will need to provide you with the means in which they determined your vehicles ACV, be sure you look it over very very good, some times it will be missing some options etc...typically there is 'some' wiggle room and they will come in at the lowest amount first...let us know

Thanks again, they use CCC company for evaluation. The cars they use are fairly comparable but they also use lower models. I just talked to the guy and said I want a 1K and he said they are offering the $700, he wouldn't budge and said I should file the claim through my company if I want more. The main reason is he says Washington state has to put a baseline adjustment on the dealer cars it is almost $400. With out this I could get my amount but the seem very firm. :( I guess I need to research this more.
Thanks again Lori, any more comments are always welcome and I will let you know if I find out anything else

If you have collision coverage, it's always advisable to have them get the acv and an offer from your carrier as well..then simply take the higher of the two..your carrier will subrogate the other carrier anyway...

I don't know anything about this

Washington state has to put a baseline adjustment on the dealer cars it is almost $400

or even what that means :? or has to do with you? :? you could check your states dept of ins website, it should be there if it pertains to acv's on total loss vehicle..they should also have a consumer line that you can call with questions...do they have you in a rental or is your vehicle still driveable? and if so, do you want to keep it?

Hi Lori, do you think that the OP has a chance to receive greater value on the car if he files the claim with his insurer. It might happen that his insurer too decides to offer the same amount as the third-party insurer. What would be his recourse then? If he decides to file the claim with his insurer now, wouldn't it too enter in his claim history?
