if the car owner added a co signer and has past debt. can it be repossed

If you're asking can the car be reposessed to sell to pay off a debt of the co-signer, the answer is NO. Now if the payments are not made on the vehicle, then the car can be reposessed and it will negatively affect the credit of both individuals who have signed on the note.

No the car won't be repoed to pay off the past debts of the co-signer. But I'd try to avoid a co-signer who has poor credit record. :)
