Hello,
I bought an old farm truck from my father-in-law. I wanted to haul some sawdust and beauty bark for my home, but I can't find insurance that's not commercial truck insurance. Anyone have ideas??

Have you contacted any local agent yet? If not, then its the first step that you should take towards insuring the truck. I think farm equipments' insurance is a niche market and therefore policies aren't available broadly. But an independent agent or broker would definitely be able to help.

Hey, you need farm truck insurance for it. Since, these trucks are used for special purposes of farm works you can’t get it insured under the standard auto policies.
Initially farm trucks were covered under the farm liability policy but after the change in the insurance laws in 2000, separate policies are required to cover the farm trucks.

You may check with the state insurance department, it would have a list of the insurer who would offer this special coverage. Also check with the DMV, in some states you are required to register the vehicle with them even when it would be used for farming only.

Hope this helps.
