What is GBI coverage?

I had this claims Adjuster call me today to ask if I could tell her what GBI coverage is. This is a Michigan motorcycle policy. I have never heard of it. The coverage limits are 100/300, sems to me it's some kind of injury coverage but that would overlap the existing B/I coverage. Anyone??

Hi,

Never really heard of it..but if you say that the GBI would overlap your B/I, then you must know that you won't derive a two-fold benefit for a single accident (ie. you can't claim twice for the same injuries separately..).
If you're maintaining the min. req. B/I, then I believe this coverage may come to good use in case the magnitude of such an accident exceeds the basic B/I limits.

..didn't quite understand why on Earth an adjuster would call on you for such information..are you an insurance professional too!
Or is it that the adjuster is working with another carrier who doesn't offer this GBI coverage? come soon, carlaDique

I don't get that either...do you have an ongoing claim? Is this GBI, maybe similar to an umbrella? Never heard of it...could the ''g'' be for ''general''??

OP, why is an adjuster calling you?

Hey, I was wondering, can GBI stands for Gross Bodily Injury coverage? May be the adjuster wanted to know what the limit of the policy for bodily injury in an accident.
