Turn the claim in to both your carrier and the insurance carrier for the person that hit you...

yeah, turn in the claim and see what happens. they may ask for further information, or other paperwork. im assuming it wasnt your fault, so hopefully the others parties insurance covers everything.
good luck

Don't you guys think that we need more information to respond to the OP's query?
OP please elucidates your question for better guidance. If you were hit by another vehicle you are required to turn the claim to that other driver's insurer. However, your ability to pursue the other driver also gets governed by your state's laws, hence, please mention the state's name in your next post.

No Jeorge you are not required to do anything with the other carrier at all...makes sense, but you certainly are not required to...you are however required to report all accidents promptly to your OWN carrier.

If you have been hit by a car you need to immediately inform your insurance company and give them the details. The details must include:
Time and place of accident
Weather condition as well as road conditions
Name, telephone number, driver's license number of those involved in the accident
Name and contact number of witness (if any)
You must also make a note of the make, license plate number, model, year and color of the car that hit you. Having gathered all these information, get in touch with your insurance company immediately. The sooner you do the faster the process gets started. Keep in mind that the insurer may refuse to make any payment for your claim if you have not made the claim within a reasonable time period.
