ran off the road by an aggressive driver and no contact involved but change lane for safety, but eventually led to car crash? what should this be classified under? Collision or Uninsured Motorist?

Most likely collision but it depends on state laws. Most I've read only allow UMPD when there is contact or at least some evidence that another vehicle was involved (wit, etc).
Also, only UMPD applies. Most people don't have UMPD... only UMBI.

I can almost gaurantee that no matter what state you are in without evidence of another vehicle, and you hit a fixed object (did you?) it will be under collision.

Or if the car rolled over (aka: "upset"), collision will cover the loss. UMPD usually requires contact between your vehicle and another (as in hit-and-run) -- no contact, no claim under UMPD.
No collision? No coverage for your loss.

Where was the crash? I thought, OP, you didin't get into an accident. What did I miss here?Posted: Sat Jul 17, 2010 12:16 pm Post Subject:
Well, the scenario is not quite clear with me! Did the other driver also change his lane and get in front of you?

Me, either. I really don't know how to comment on this. Also..the OP said something about Uninsured Motorist. Was the other (or the OP) NOT insured?Add your comment
