WHAT DETERMINES AUTO INSURANCE RATE

by Clintong72 » Thu Jun 03, 2010 09:06 pm

Most insurance companies consider the size and the age of car to determine the rate.Best way to save on insurance is by obtaining free insurance quotes through a local agent.

When you receive an auto insurance quote from a number of agents, you also see how the price of auto insurance is impacted by the make and model of your vehicle. When you discuss auto insurance quotes with a broker, remember that a clean driving history will lead you to a better priced policy. If you have a history of tickets and/or other driving offenses, you can expect to receive a higher auto insurance quote.

A person's age is a HUGE determining factor in how much you pay for auto insurance. The younger you are the higher your monthly premium will be.Statistics show that married people are more safe on the road. Insurance companies believe that these people have more to lose than unmarried people. They do not want to risk any of those things, especially for cheap thrills, and drive as safe as possible. Unmarried people have less to lose and therefore, statistics show, take more unnecessary chances with their lives.

Another major component in determining how much a person pays for automobile insurance is where he lives. People who live in cities will pay more than people who live in small towns or the country. Locations that suffer from inclement weather have higher accident rates than places with temperate weather.

Nevertheless, you can save money and get a cheap auto insurance by going with the right agent.

Ignorance of the right information can make people to pay more on auto insurance. They need the right agents that can throw more lights on the policy their about to take and also get comparable quotes.

Lack of knowledge surely makes a difference. Many of us are not aware of the state guidelines regarding auto insurance. There are other factors like the model, color, usage etc.

color

Has absolutely no effect on the premium for auto insurance. Just like hair color, eye color, skin color has no effect on the cost of life insurance.

Ignorance can be very expensive and not knowing the right thing to do can be messing especially when your eyes is opened to the right information in the later.

People really need to be abreast with auto insurance policy information before taken it.

First, there is no such thing as "cheap insurance." Insurance is "priced" according to risk. Most people are paying a fair premium for their coverage, but paying more than they should due to other factors beyond their control such as insurance fraud and uninsured motorists.

On the other hand, there are "cheap" customers . . . ones who believe they shouldn't have to pay their fair share when it comes to insurance premiums. They lie to insurance companies in their applications, misstating the number of miles they drive annually, or where their car is garaged, to avoid paying the proper (higher) premium required. They make insurance more expensive for the rest of us, too.

Where ignorance comes into question is in the coverage people apply for and/or actually carry. Most people who do not use the services of an agent end up inappropriately covered. Many drive with state minimums and believe they are "fully covered". They're the ones most likely to claim they were "ripped off" by the insurance company when they have a claim. And we also read about them in the press releases from the Dept of Insurance . . . the ones who crash their vehicle while driving drunk or under the influence of "stupid" and then call the police to report the vehicle as stolen so they can collect an insurance claim. Sometimes their parents cooperate in the fraud, too.

Younger, more inexperienced persons, and persons whose primary language is not English are at greater risk of both (1) failing to understand insurance, how it works, and what their true need is, and (2) being taken advantage of by an unscrupulous agent -- yes, there are some of those, too.

However, the vast majority of agents are reputable, honest persons of integrity, and will "advise" clients of their true coverage needs, but are only required to provide the client with "what he wants" rather than what he needs. When the client says, "I can't afford $1000 per year," we have to figure out how much they can afford and create the most coverage for the amount they are willing to pay. Not the best plan in many cases.

Unfortunately, especially here in California with our somewhat higher than average auto insurance rates, clients are sometime lured to particular agencies that advertise auto insurance for "$16 per month" which is entirely unrealistic for the vast majority of drivers, even under the state's own "Low Cost Auto Insurance" program, where the average rate is about $400 per year.

Short cut always cut life short. There is nothing as good as doing the right thing. People who intend to get the easily way out often get their fingers burnt. Get the agent that will advise you and tell you your coverage needs and not what you want. When you do the right thing by taken the insurance accord to you the benefit will be your incase of any eventuality. Be wise in your decision.

No..I don't think it's iggnorance (unless you're talking about the person who wants to be insured.) I REALLY think it depends on your driving record. If someone has alot of accidents, DUI's, etc. I can understand why Insurance Co's would deny them Insurance. I think, too, it's the age of the person. Some of my 'clients' (who are Elderly) have very high rates..however, their driving records are great!! Someone who is just starting to drive?..probably 'high risk'. Just all depends.
