There are a lot of good tips in here, so I wanted to post my issue here.
I have a 2002 Honda S2000, which I think is totalled. I wanted to get some thoughts here. It has an all red leather interior, which is very rare. Only 5% of cars had this, the other 95% are black leather. I've searched all over and can't find any used ones with my color combo, except a local one, 2002 with only 4,600 miles on it! at a nice deal Of course it has the black interior, and I want the red like my current car had, which I ordered this way!
If my insurance company looks at my car and says they are going to total it, I would want to swap the black leather interior from the new car, into my old car, and put my old red interior into the new car that I would buy. I talked with the Honda dealer and they've actually done this many times for other people. Most don't like the RED and have had it swaped, but I love it, and I can't find another used silver car with the red in it.
How would I bring this up to the insurer? Technically I still own the car. The new car interior has only 4,600 miles on it is in perfect condition, which the dealer would swap out for me with my 25,000 mile interior.
I can't replace my car with a similar one, unless I do the interior swap.

You will just have to talk to the adjuster and see what they say. If they total the car and pay you for it then the vehicle becomes the insurance cos. What they do with it from there is up to them. They may charge you some amount of money or they may just let you do it. The adjuste would know best.
