Honestly that can change from company to company.
I was an independent agent for many years and found each company had their own philosophy.
But overall, I would stick with american made cars that don't show up as high theft vehicles.
You can find a list of top stolen vehicles in Texas here ftp://ftp.dot.state.tx.us/pub/txdot-info/atpa/stolen_vehicles.pdf

The risk of theft claims associated with 2-door cars would be quite more than that of 4-door cars. I've heard that even the color of a car has some significance.

I'd consider the probable repair charges while purchasing a car.
Insurance rates also come down if you'd install property safety devices within your car. While choosing car models I'd prefer the safer ones after checking them with the IIHS.

According to the IIHS, vehicles that offer a sense of security are identified with the ones that safeguard people from crashes at the rear, side and front of the vehicle. The institute carries on tests upon the vehicles and rates them accordingly. Roddick

I believe rates may differ from each other..
As there is a huge demand for car insurances there are policies available as per your demand.
