I know that in most countries taking an auto insurance is compulsory as such you cannot use a vehicle on a road without having an auto insurance.

I think there are a few that do not require 'insurance' but they do require 'financial responsiblity' which for most is insurance, which is WAY cheaper than filing a bond for say 100k with the state...

Some states won't insist it..........but.......... will you take the chances for the proposed risk associated with the accident if it is your fault .Will you happily pay that from your hard earned kitty?
Nopp!! nobody like to evade their hard earned money with a single mistake of the driver.(if you are not a driver but car is owned by you still the responsibility lies with you only who is the owner of the car.so one must be wise enough to spend the money for the insurance sake.
