My 27 year old has a revoked liscense for a DWI conviction

My 27 year old has a revoked liscense for a DWI conviction in april of 2008.
I am being canclled by geico as a result becuase he was on my auto insurqnce when this took place and they say he has access to my and my husbands car and therefore we are a risk to carry.
I need to show proof my son has his own non drivers policy or some kind of insurance so I and my husband can hold auto insurance.
Someone at geico suggested a non drivers insurance policy for him but I have been unable to find any agent willing to help us.
Can you tell me what kind of policy I need to be asking for. I am lost and running out of time. Geico is due to cancell us on August 28, 2008.

Thank you for any help.

You'd obtain a non-owners auto policy. Agents don't know what this is? If they did not, I'd move along to another agent.

Will they not allow you to exclude him from your vehicles?

No -Geico said that because he was convicted of the DWI while he was on our policy they are cancelling us. neither car is registered to him. I asked if they offered a non-owners policy for jesse and they said no and washed their hands of us. They did say we can come back when we have proof that Jesse's been reinstated with the DMV or when he has his Own insurance. I tried all day to find someone to carry him but no luck so far. Thank you both for your repsonses-rachel

I have numerous companies that will insure him. This is very easy to take care of.Your particular company may still require that you leave them. However that may benefit you.

Sounds like a shady deal. It's unfortunate that GEICO is not willing to provide good customer service and assist you with this issue that doesn't seem to be nearly as difficult to handle as they are making it. To me it sounds like they have a case of "I don't want to deal with it" and like you said, just want to wash their hands of your policy and you along with it. You still have plenty of time, over two weeks still, I'm confident everything will be sorted out for you shortly.

Would you loan your vehicle all the time to someone with a recent DUI? If you would not want the risk, why would GEICO?

Yes-I understand Geicos postition I just feel a bit abandoned and lost.
Can anyone reccomend an insurance company that will write my son a "non-owner policy"?

sergeantrawr, you might try an independent agent that sells for multiple companys...have you tried the big three or four? (state farm, allstate, progressive, farmers?)
