Safeco scapegoat here again. After I got them to rescind the exclusion fee, they sent a letter today thanking me for my recent interest in their electronic funds transfer program, asking me to attach a voided check and sign the enclosed form or they will assume I'm not paying and start charging me an extra $4/mo for each month to be paid once I do start paying.
Only...we already have EFT. We already sent them a voided check and they have already taken several months-worth of payments that way. A call to them didn't help as he said that our bank rejected the initial ETF request. Asking how they were already using this program despite this so-called rejection got me nowhere, asking why the letter thanked me for my interest in the program but didn't address a previous bank rejection that no one has told about before didn't get me any answers. Both times he said, "well, that's odd." But never really answered the questions.
Yes, I have written and complained about them to the state board of insurance. That body suggested we find another company. But because of the open claim, we can't.
Safeco knows we are backed in a corner. They are aware we are unhappy and after (not)answering questions about this current letter, they asked why we haven't signed the cancellation letters they sent us. When I told him why, his parting words before I hung up on him were, "oh, well, you should have been a better driver." I'M NOT EVEN THE ONE INVOLVED IN THE ACCIDENT.
Has anyone else been harassed by them like this? Is this common? How do I get insurance elsewhere with this open claim that they won't close until 2011?

lauri, as we have discussed in another thread....one shouldn't have problem in finding insurance coverage with an open claim. The best way to know about it is by asking your insurance consultant.

(Thinking out loud here..) Your PRESENT Insurance company wouldn't have any 'grounds' to stop you from looking into OTHER Insurance companies/policies...even with an open claim. If you're not satisified with the one (Insurance company) you have now, I think you SHOULD look around for another one.
