There are many things involved with becoming an insurance agent and being able to offer auto insurance. You would need a property and casualty insurance license and then you would need to be appointed by a company to offer their line of products.

You will need to satisfy the requirements of your state in order to become a property and casualty insurance agent. There are many lines of insurance in which you can become licensed. Usually you will need to complete a specific number of hours of classroom training and pass a test to become qualified to take an examination administered by your state.
You can contact your local community college or your state's insurance department to find a school.
After successfully passing that exam and/or completing the pre-license requirements you can become an insurance agent.

I will advice you to be a captive initially then you can explore after some time once you become more mature.
Rather it is really a great revenue earning profession if you can dedicate some time for it.

Hi,
I will advice you to be a captive initially then you can explore after some time once you become more mature.
Once you'd become a captive agent you'd get an opportunity to interact with others who're in this profession for quite sometime. This would help you develop certain skill sets that are vital for business generation. At the same time, you'd be able to develop your own network of trusted clients.
