A friend of mine took my vehicle and he has a suspended license. I immediately dropped the insurance, but because the tag and title are in my name, if he has an accident, would I be responsible for anything?

"Took" your vehicle? You sounds like you did not give him permission and it sounds like he's not returned it. Why is this not considered stolen? As the owner you are going to be responsible for the use of the vehicle (in most every state).
Was the vehicle reported stolen? If not, then you would probably be held liable for anything that happens with the vehicle. Also, if the vehicle is not reported stolen then you still need to maintain insurance on the vehicle as your going to be liable for it's use. Lastly you can't have the vehicle registered with no insurance.
Bottom line, if this is a stolen vehicle, you need to report it as stolen. This includes if you loaned the vehicle to your friend but he did not return it when he should have.

Like Tcope has said, you would be responsible for everything since you have lent the car to the friend. Now, if you actually mean that he has taken it without permission then you might have to report it as stolen before anything happens.
Has he or has he not taken the car with permission? Why did you drop insurance?
