Hi, I'm a taxi owner and I'm looking for coverage to protect my taxi. Do I look for the usual car insurance type? What should I expect from a carrier?

Depends on where you live or where the taxi will be operated.

You would certainly NOT want a "personal auto policy", as that would not cover the commercial use of your vehicle.
As a taxi, your vehicle is involved in the provision of "livery" services to the public. At a minimum, you probably need a commercial auto policy, and there may be minimum limits of liability imposed by any of the authorities under whose jurisdiction your taxi is operated.

There are quite a few comprehensive coverage options available for taxis. Make sure you understand the various aspects of such coverage. Damages & third-party liabilities concerning your taxi are covered.

I've read about fleet discounts on Taxi insurance. I think it's great for all taxi owners. If you come across such offers, it would definitely save on your future insurance costs.

See, there are a lot of ways you may achieve a lower premium. The best way to achieve a discount is through a clean driving record. You might even see through a 50% discount at that.
