Teenagers are so much prone to auto accidents. This is definitely something parents have been worrying about since the number of accidents involving teenagers is increasing every day. Teenagers like to live on high spirits. But they may not always be responsible drivers like they claim. They practice unsafe driving and hence get into trouble.
There are certain measures you can take as a parent to make your teen driver a little more responsible. You can prevent both minor and major car accidents if you are a little careful. Teen drivers may take a look at the following mistakes they make while driving:
- Distraction behind the wheels: Truly as a teenager you have a life of your own. But CDs, cell phones, text messages are really distracting. Some irresponsible teenagers may be talking on their cell phones when driving but that doesn’t man you will too. If you are a responsible driver, you won’t. If you are distracted you will be more at risk of being in an accident.
- Ignoring rules: A good driver will never ignore traffic signals, school signs or not check blind spots and risky zones before changing lanes. These are the things you can take care of while driving so that you are not the cause of any body’s trouble.
- Crossing the speed limit: As a teen you may love to have a high paced life and of course a high speed drive. But remember there is a speed limit that you must maintain. Speeding can cause an accident that you might have been able to avoid otherwise.
- Accommodating too many passengers: When you drive you need to maintain a following distance with another car. If you have too many passengers in your car than what you can carry you might end up not being able to determine the driving distance between the other cars because your overcrowded car may block your vision.
- Driving under influence of alcohol: Driving under the influence of alcohol is dangerous. If you are driving DO NOT DRINK. If you are drinking DO NOT DRIVE. Your friends may try to influence you but you are a responsible driver. Hence remember this when you drive.
- No seat belt: This is another very dangerous thing to do when driving. A belt can protect you from serious injuries if you get in to an accident. You can prevent yourself from banging your head and injuring it if you buckle yourself up while driving.
- Driving with little experience: You can enhance any kind of skill with practice and experience. Similarly you can also enhance your driving skills like wise. If you are an inexperienced driver not being responsible, chances are likely nil that you can take control if you see an impending danger. So it is better that you have enough experience before you can start driving seriously.
