For those who love to ride the bike it is a different adventure altogether. Open roads, speed, miles and miles to go. In times like this the last thing you would like to think about is whether you are protected in case you have an accident. To keep this worry out of your mind, you must buy motorcycle insurance.
Like auto insurance this policy is not mandatory. But it is always better to be on the safe side. The best thing to do would be to drive carefully, but like we all know, accidents don’t give out warnings prior to occurring. They just happen. Another thing to remember is that, even if you have auto insurance your bike will need a separate insurance to get protected.
Motorcycle insurance coverage
A typical motorcycle policy would cover
- Damage to your motorcycle from an accident.
- Liability to other vehicle(s) involved in an accident with you.
- Injury caused to another party.
- A number of accessories associated with motorbike riding, like your helmet, saddle bags, backrest, leathers and the like.
- Any damage to your motorcycle caused by weather. However, if it is stored correctly and still is damaged by weather, only then the insurance company will cover.
- Damage to custom work on your motorcycle. Again, there is an exception to this. If you have informed your insurer about the custom work and have provided photographic evidence, your insurance company would cover it.
- Damage caused by an uninsured motorist unless you buy an uninsured motorist policy.
