My former Insurance company wrote . we been unable as of today 's date to locate any information on the third party .Please contact me with any additional information that you may have on them to allow us to place a claim against them. if we do not hear from you by 2/7/2013 we will assume that you no longer wish to pursue subrogation and will close our flie.
I gave them all the info I had. What can they do to me ? no one was hurt it was damage to my car at a private location no one saw how it happened. and who did it.

Kind of an odd letter but if you don't know who caused the damage, let them close the claim.

If that were true why would they state they cannot locate any info on the "third party"? They could simply go after them.
My only guess is that they send those letters out to avoid any complaints for not getting their insured's deductible back.
