What kind of insurance do I need for an office cleaning business? It is just me and my daughters right now, but am hoping to expand. I operate from home and intend to continue to do so.

If you start expanding, then try to buy insurance covering the worker compensation.

This is not exactly the correct advice. It has nothing to do with expanding, it has everything to do with having an employee.

Any business that has at least ONE employee other than a sole proprietor (and generally excluding immediate family members in most cases) must provide its workers with coverage under Workers' Compensation laws. Failure to provide the WC Insurance is a crime, and exposes the business owner to PERSONAL LIABILITY for the worker's job-connected injury or illness.

It makes no difference if the business is home-based -- a business is a business.

General liability insurance is good for your small business, as it consist of many coverage benefits such as special rate reduction, claims responsiveness, monthly payment option.

You should use General liability insurance, or GL, for cleaning insurance. It provides protection against lawsuits and other financial liabilities.
GL is bundled with the various Business Owners Policy.
You can also use Compensation insurance through the Progressive Commercial Advantage program, it cover the medical cost of an employee.

This is NOT an accurate statement. General Liability insurance does not cover "financial liabilities", it covers losses as stated in the contract. As for protection against lawsuits, that would only be true if the suit involved a [potentially] covered loss. There is no legal defense provided for things not covered by the contract.

As always, a person should get their insurance through a local agent or broker. And on this site, don't take advice from persons like ShariDaniels who are not licensed insurance producers.

COMPLETELY WRONG.
Please explain how a Workers' Compensation policy would protect a customer or other member of the public?
Please explain how an Umbrella policy would protect a business owner who carries no other liability insurance?
Please explain how a Commercial Auto Policy would protect a business owner whose employee suffers a back injury while cleaning a small office?
Please explain how a Commercial General Liability policy would protect someone who is injured in a collision with one of the vehicles owned by a small business owner?

Most business owners need a combination of coverages to be fully protected against the claims of employees, customers, and other members of the general public.

Raymond . . . please be careful what you post, because you don't know as much about insurance as you think. And that makes you a little dangerous.
