A Business owners Policy or General Liability insurance can be purchased to protect the business when a lawsuit is filed due to negligence that caused property damage or injuries to someone else. Workers Compensation insurance will cover employee’s injuries while on the job. Coverage will not extend to suits against the business for nonperformance of a contract or employee’s suits due to harassment or discrimination.

Other exclusions can include intentional acts, although there is an exception if the act was committed to prevent property damage or bodily injury. In other words, if a business owner were to hurt someone while preventing them from breaking in, that would be covered.

If you will be operating a vehicle for your business, you will want a commercial auto policy.
