Errors & Omissions insurance (E&O) has nothing to do with "insuring [your] financial stuff" unless you mean protecting one's savings and other assets from the claims of third parties for the negligent mistakes of your professional conduct. Insurance agents and securities representatives generally have E&O insurance.

It is the functional equivalent of "professional liability" coverage that engineers, accountants, architects, lawyers, nurses, doctors, and dentists (among other occupations) obtain to cover their personal liability for harm done to others. Doctors, nurses, and lawyers know it as "malpractice" insurance.

Whether the conversation is about E&O, professional liability, or malpractice insurance, the end result is the same: the policy protects against claims due to NEGLIGENCE. Criminal acts are not covered. Being careless or stupid is.

As Forrest Gump would say, "Stupid is as stupid does. But at least stupid might be smart enough to have insurance to cover it."
