Hi,
I run a small cleaning company. Recently I was asked to fix a light for one of my commercial clients. After changing the light bulb I realized that the problem was the ballast and not the bulb. After informing the client that this was the problem they asked if I could fix it. I said sure and proceeded to put in a new one. To remove the ballast, I had to undo several electrical wires and twist them back together to put the new ballast in. The light works fine now.
Maybe I'm being overly worried but my question is... if there were to be some sort of problem with the light and it started on fire, would my small business insurance cover it or would I be totally screwed??
thanks!

If you have liability under that policy, then most likely yes it would cover it. However, on your application you indicated what type of work you performed. You probably did not include electrical work. At worse, the carrier might not renew your policy.Posted: Tue Oct 18, 2011 04:21 pm Post Subject: CCC
That seems like one scenario but under the Custody Care and Control exclusion in a typical GL policy they may simply deny coverage. You may have a professional liability or completed operations endorsement as a cleaning service that may help but I dont believe a typical ISO GL policy would provide coverage. Anyone with further input would be appreciated

CCC would not come into play. The insured is not in possession of someone else's property that is damaged.
