I would like to know, what is tradesman insurance.
Do only traders need to buy this policy?
I'm an independent contractor, do I have to take this kind of insurance.
Please advice specifically, on who all needs this kind of insurance and what all it actually covers. Thanks in advance!

A tradesman insurance is for anyone related to a kind of trade. A tradesman insurance can be taken out by builders, plumbers, electricians, carpenters, merchants, etc.
Whenever you give your services, there are risks from which you need to protect yourself and other people. Tradesman insurance provides coverage against loses that a tradesman might suffer in a work related accident.
Coverage of a tradesman insurance includes public liability, employers liability, and protection for your tools and equipment.

The exact question you asked, about whether or not you need this type of insurance, was not answered specifically. I would say it depends on what type of work you do. You said you're an IC. What kind?

Tradesman insurance is not only associated with trade persons, it covers all the people who are self employed and running a business. any one who has an exposure to hazards can take coverage in form of tradesmen insurance.

Tradesmen & Professional Insurance can ensure that should something go wrong while you’re at work, you and your equipment can be covered from the unpredictable costs than can arise.

THIS IS PURE BS!!

Investing is "Speculatve Risk" which is NOT insurable. No investor can get coverage as stevenricherd suggests.

As I understand the OP's question, he is concerned about GENERAL LIABILITY INSURANCE to cover the negligence of a "tradesman" -- a contractor such as a plumber, carpenter, electrician, welder, roofer, cement contractor, etc.

Everyone other than missionaryinsurance and stevenricherd correctly identified the issue and responded appropriately.

These two posters, missionaryinsurance and stevenricherd, and their comments should not be relied on for accurate information. Their frequent postings of insurance misinformation render their qualifications as insurance professionals highly doubtful.
