Hi all,

I would like to ask you what are the causes behind my health insurance policy lapse and how can I continue my policy again?

Did you pay the premium? In just about every state, the only way that an insurer can "get off" the risk (in other words, terminate coverage) in health insurance is for either:
1. Non-payment of premium, which would obviously cause a lapse in coverage; and
2. If the insurer stops offering coverage in the entire state as they have pulled out of the state entirely. This is pretty uncommon, but possibly the reason.

There are other ways that an insurer can cancel, but not likely the reason for your lapse.

The likeliest reason for the cancellation is non-pay.

OP- can you help us here?

I have not pay the premium for the last five months and my insurance agent said that my policy can be lapse if six month is over. How can I escape from it?

"Escape" from the policy merely requires not paying the premium. "Escape" from the premium means to not pay the premium. As for your policy lapsing after six months, you will not be required to to pay back premiums unless you've had a claim.

But if you haven't paid the premiums and want to keep your insurance, you cannot allow it to lapse. You have to pay all the premiums that were due. If your policy lapses for non-payment of premium, you won't have to pay past due premiums if you want to reinstate the policy -- they are simply off the hook, as InsTeacher said. If you lapse the coverage, you do not have to be reinstated. You will have to prove insurability.

You just aren't clearly asking the question you want answered, and we are trying to guess what you meant. Our answers could be completely wrong compared to the question you have.
