How does health insurance cover autism? Is an individual policy allowed or the child has to be included under his parent's policy? How much should be the coverage and the expected premiums? Any help would be appreciated.

As of this point in time in 2012, California now requires coverage for autism in all health insurance policies. Other states may require this, also.
California law requires insurance companies to write standalone individual policies on children under age 19.
The PPACA has removed all limits on annual and lifetime health insurance benefits. As far as premiums are concerned, you need to work with a local agent or broker to find that information.
