I have medicare part a but not b. I did not know that I had to sign up for part b because I thought my employer insurance would cover doctor bills. I am a disabled retiree...now I will be without any doctor & lab coverage for 8 months. Do I have any options?

As a retiree, you may be eligible to enroll in your spouse’s employer sponsored health plan, as per the COBRA.

You will not be without coverage for 8 months. If you are enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B, you may enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan now (or on or before December 7, 2012), and your coverage will begin on January 1, 2013.

When did your employer coverage end?

When you say you will be without coverage for 8 months, I believe you may be confused.
