obtaining health insurance quotes

Hello, thankful for this forum!

I am just now attempting to obtain health insurance quotes (individual). I have found myself very confused about all of the different plans.

My question is:
Should I call and inquire to the different insurance companies for their rates and plan information? The common sense answer would be, "of course you should".

But, I have heard that insurance companies contribute information and history on people to a database similar to a credit report.

So, is it true that the last company I call for a quote with will be able to see what other companies I have obtained quotes from.

And furthermore, would that mean that if I decided to change insurance companies in a few years, they will be able to see what claims I might have made and so forth? I would much rather them get information about me through my medical file than some system the insurance companies use to share information.

Thanks for your time and advice!

The organization is called the Medical Information Bureau. The only information is what insurance companies report as the result of actual underwriting, not simply what you call and ask about.

No, it is not true.

This is not Burger King. You cannot have it your way.
