Insurance raised rates for no reason

My rear driver side tire's inner band broke while driving on a major highway on the eve of easter sunday in major traffic. It caused my tire to over inflate causing me to instantly lose control of my vehicle. I had no warning nor heard anything strange prior to this happening. Upon having no control, my vehicle ('98 Ford Explorer SUV) crossed a 4-lane highway from the fast lane to the exit lane, hitting the guard rail causing my air bag to deploy. The impact caused my vehicle to spin, hitting the guard rail again from the rear, breaking out my windows and throwing me back across the hwy. My truck was totalled. Miraculously, I didn't cause or create one single accident. No other vehicle hit me either. I rec'd a $158.00 citations for damaging the guardrail. The hwy patrol officer stated that it was city property and it had to be listed as negligent/careless driving. I had the citation dismissed due to no witnesses but my insurance rates doubled because of the careless/negligent comment on the crash report. Now, I never filed a claim on my vehicle, I had the ticket dismissed and never had a ticket prior to this incident. WHY WOULD MY INSURANCE RATES INCREASE????

Well, let's see. You drive a vehicle, you had a collision, you totaled the vehicle, the moon is entering last quarter, Venus is aligned with Neptune. And the sun threw off some plasma the other day.

The hwy patrol officer stated that it was city property and it had to be listed as negligent/careless driving. I had the citation dismissed . . . but my insurance rates doubled because of the careless/negligent comment on the crash report. Now, I never filed a claim on my vehicle

Gee, I don't know. You don't suppose it has anything to do with being involved in a collision, do you? You know, something remotely related to your driving history. You don't have to file a claim for your driving history to change.

Did you replace the totaled vehicle? With what? Oh a 2013 vehicle? That's probably the reason.

Let me explain what raised your costs:

1. Not just because of the comment, but you were a negligent driver
2. You totaled your vehicle (doesn't matter whether or not you claimed for it)
[ Don't understand, why people carry insurance if they're not going to claim for damages!! ]
3. The incident leaves a big RED mark on your driving record.
Insurance Rates increase as the risk associated with a driver does.
