My wife is trying to cancel her insurance from work because her insurance does not pay for her surgery. Though she is also covered under my policy, her one is considered as primary and mine secondary. In general, when primary refuses to pay, secondary refuses to. She asked her employer to cease her insurance but they said she has to wait until open enrolment. Could something be done over here before the said time? Is there any way out?

She needn’t cancel her policy. The only time the secondary follows the denial path of the primary is when the primary policy is Medicare and the secondary is a Medifil policy. If this is not the case with you, then the two policies you are talking about are completely separate policies along with two separate sets of benefits. If the primary denies for a reason, it’s not necessary that the secondary would too do the same.
Simply go with the claim procedure.
