Is breast cancer covered by critical illness insurance?

I'm not sure about the stage but a distant relative of mine has recently experienced breast cancer. She is too young and that’s why I’m so surprised how she caught it at such a premature age. Anyway, I was just wondering whether or not breast cancer would be covered by critical illness insurance if I myself become a victim one day.

Critical illness insurance doesn't cover all types of medical conditions. So, you must be aware of the restrictions on the type of critical insurance coverage you are buying.

Moreover, if you already have a condition or you are diagnosed with one now, then your illness won't be covered under this type of policy.

Contrary to the misinformation posted above, a critical illness policy will define the types of illnesses for which it provides a benefit. Some critical illness policies are broader than others in the sense that they cover several different conditions/illnesses. Some policies are limited specifically to individual disorders such as cancer, HIV/AIDS, heart disease, or strokes.

Critical illness policies which cover cancer will include benefits for cancer of the breast or uterus, as well as cancer of the lungs, prostate, skin, etc.

Obviously, there will be preexisting condition exclusions, but if you have not been diagnosed or treated for cancer prior to applying for the insurance, those exclusions will not apply to you.
