My family and I are covered by my employer but I have Medicare. The doctors say that my employer’s insurance is the primary one so Medicare doesn't apply. Now, I have high deductibles even though I've Medicare supplement, $1200/month insurance premium. Can I drop Medicare?

You can disenroll from Medicare Part B, and will stop paying that premium. By doing so, your Medicare Supplement insurance policy must also terminate (you can only purchase and keep a Medicare Supplement insurance plan if you have both Medicare Parts A & B). If you lose your employer-sponsored health insurance, you will have a "Special Enrollment Period" during which you may re-enroll in Part B.

According to changes being made courtesy of the Affordable Care Act, what has been an 8-month "Special Enrollment Period" for Medicare beneficiaries to re-enroll in Part B in the past may be reducing to just 60 days in 2014 if you want to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan, thanks to Obamacare. That and other changes (if true) will be explained in the "Medicare and You 2014" book that will be released in the next month or so.
