I was asked by my employer to get in touch with my healthcare insurer today on 28.10.13 to validate that our group policy I am under confirms to all the eligibility criteria mentioned in Affordable Health Care Act (obamacare). I am told that the company won’t be liable if we receive cancellation letter as we might be dropped, if we fail to fulfill the necessary requirements. I contact my insurer and they informed me that my policy has already been cancelled on 12.10.13. They did not send any notification before or after doing that. So, can a Ohio employer terminate my health insurance policy without serving me any notice?

Apparently, your employer did not pay the premiums for the month of October. There is nothing that prevents the insurance company from terminating coverage for nonpayment of premiums. Ten days is the standard grace period in health insurance when premiums are paid monthly.
That's entirely different than your employer terminating coverage withing informing the employees. Ohio law probably requires a minimum advance notice to employees if a health insurance plan will not be renewed.
It might be time to look for another employer. If he cannot afford today's health insurance premiums, he might not be in a position to afford next week's paychecks.
