Is Medicaid better than private insurance?

I work for Walmart and it is now for around 6 years that I have had insurance through them. I have medical issues for which I visit doctors on regular intervals and it gets very expensive. The plan at WalMart I pay 100% of costs until I meet my $2500 deductible. Then they pay 80% until I reach my $5000 out of pocket max. I don't have $2500 and I meet that deductible within the first few months of the year so it's really hard on me, I have a stack of bills over several years I'm still trying to pay. I recently came to know that I can cover my expenses through Medicaid I would need to pay hardly anything against everything I would receive. So, considering my circumstance, I feel it is better to accept Medicaid. Or is there something I might be missing?

Unless the cost of the insurance for you alone is more than 9.5% of your household income, you will not be eligible for Medicaid. You don't state what the cost is or what your income is, so there is no way to give you a better answer.

That's what you are missing.

It has nothing to do with the bills you pay or don't pay and whether you can afford to pay those bills or not.
