OK, so now we are pregnant and that’s a good news. But as I was checking my insurance to find out what is covered and what’s not, I came to know that there was no maternity care on our plan. My husband and I, both work for smaller institutions that don’t offer any insurance coverage so we have our own plan. Unfortunately, it doesn’t cover pregnancy. We make too much and won’t be eligible for Medicaid. Does anybody have any suggestions? Any supplemental coverage, or anything we could use to cover the costs?
We never thought this would be an issue. We are in Texas and just have no clue about dealing with it. I’ve not been to any physician yet but have scheduled an appointment. Once I visit they’d ask for my insurance. So I don’t know what to do.

You can purchase a new health insurance plan for 2014 which must include maternity coverage and cover "preexisting conditions" such as pregnancy, or you will probably discover that your existing health insurance suddenly covers maternity on January 1, 2014, if it is a qualified health plan. If it's not a QHP, it will probably be cancelled after December 31, anyway.
Although you may not qualify for Medicaid, if your household income is less than 400% of the Federal Poverty Level for a household of two ($62,040 in 2013, a little higher in 2014), you are eligible for premium tax credits to help pay for health insurance purchased through the exchange, which will start on January 1, 2014.
And after your baby is born, your household of three would qualify for a larger premium tax credit if your household income is less than $78,120.

Thats a gud solution because if it does cost more then you should think about it but if your income is under the act then you should buy a new maternity plan.
