Obamacare and Federal Health Insurance

Does anyone have any clue how Obamacare is going to affect our federal health insurance premiums in 2014? I searched but came with no results. But I’m sure we’ll be provided with proper information as we get closer to open season this fall.

Are you asking as a federal employee? If so, you need to ask Obama.

If not, there are no "federal health insurance premiums" other than the cost of Medicare.

as we get closer to open season this fall

Excuse me? We have been in the "Open [Enrollment] Season" since October 1. It will remain open until March 31, 2014.

What in Obamacare would affect FEHB? The greatest hit is already done - the inclusion of 22-26 year folks.

This Obamacare thing is going to change the entire healthcare system as we know it. Many old and sick people who never bothered with coverage before would now relish the same thing as you and I do. The worst thing is if someone can’t afford, they won’t face any penalty. Rather, would be provided for free using the taxes that you and I pay the federal government each year.

When Obama was campaigning for the Presidency in 2008, far too many people failed to realize that he is a Socialist. Most of the Democrats now in Congress are, too.

Redistribution of wealth (a la Robin Hood's methodology: take from the rich and give to the poor) is the cornerstone, foundation, keystone, and capstone of Socialism -- make everyone "equal". What that really does is it drags down an entire society to the lowest common denominator rather than elevating the lower segments of society.

Ever since the 1960s, despite the Civil Rights movement, Equal Rights Amendment, Affirmative Action, and untold numbers of other "social programs" -- the poor are poorer because all they have is what the government gives them.

With a nation of 310,000,000 or thereabouts, including all the illegal immigrants we support (in a way no other nation in the world does), it is not a "sad commentary" that the wealthy are becoming wealthier, but the benefit of living in a capitalist economy. Socialism does not work -- the Soviet Union proved that -- and it cannot co-exist with capitalism.

Why not? The tension between capitalism and socialism is irreconcilable. The capitalist puts his money to work instead of working for his money. The socialist simply tells persons who would otherwise need to work -- "Don't work, we have money for you." (confiscating the money from those who work through taxation and "fees" and deficit spending) -- and the longer those persons are on the public payroll in one form or another, the less incentive there is to work and be productive.

Obamacare has the potential to destroy America, not because it makes millions of people eligible for health insurance, but because it burdens the working middle class, businesses, and the wealthy with subsidizing others with whom we have no relationship, either business- or family-related. At its worst, Socialism eliminates all personal responsibility and substitutes reliance upon the government.

Libertarians despise government, and I can appreciate their perspective, but you cannot eliminate government either. A nation of separate states, as the United States is, needs a central government only to the extent that it is more efficient to centralize the most basic of tasks which would otherwise be duplicated by each individual state at greater expense, such as equipping a military. (The is the central tenet of our Constitution: to provide for a common defense).

We don't need the government dictating social policy, but we do need social civility. We don't need a national plan of health insurance, but we need people to have access to insurance. Should health insurance companies be required to accept unhealthy persons? Yes, of course, it is their public responsibility alongside providing coverage for the healthy.

The insurance companies lost sight of that somewhere around the 1950s, focusing on their profitability instead. and that tunnel vision has come around to bite them in the butt. The mistake of Obamacare is the overhaul of an entire system that affected 250,000,000+ people with insurance instead of a working on a solution for the 50,000,000 who don't.

You know that plan is fatally flawed when the projections are that in ten years, the number of uninsured persons will still be more than 20,000,000 ti 25,000,000 individuals. That's not healthcare reform, that's incompetence and a national disgrace. The Administration kept it well silenced until the recent problems with Healthcare.gov tore the wheels of the machine.

Diversity is the Spice of Life.

More socialist Pablum just like

Owning a home is a keystone of wealth

On its face, that statement by Suze Orman is pathetic and wrong, and it shows how little she really knows about the real world. And you, too.

A "keystone" is not a foundation, it is the last stone set, not the first. It is the pinnacle stone -- the device that keeps an otherwise impossible-to-form freestanding arch in place through equilateral distribution of pressure and the force of gravity. A keystone holds other stones in place without cement, but the slightest flaw in that stone's placement will result in the collapse of the arch if any weight is placed on it, or the.slightest force comes against it from another direction

A keystone is nothing without a solid foundation beneath it. And that's why the biblical truth of building one's home on a solid rock instead of the sand is more profound and has withstood the test of time. The Bible will endure long after Suze Orman has gone to meet her Maker. Anyone remember the name, Charles Givens? Very few.

You want a true foundation stone? It's known as the cornerstone -- the one on which all others will both be aligned and based. Although she makes some sense on occasion, fundamentally, that's why Suze Orman is wrong -- she doesn't know which end is up. How much money do you think she makes, as a capitalist, from the $3 per month fees that her debit card holders pay? They are so blinded by her stardom they fail to realize how they are supporting her wealth by giving up some of their own. But enough about Suze Orman.

As a result of the government's easy money Socialist policies of the early 2000s, people ended up in homes they could not afford with mortgages that nearly anyone could qualify for, and look what happened . . . the near total collapse of the US banking system thanks to greedy bankers, and belief that homeownership is a right not a privilege -- a part of the "American Dream." Well, it turned into a nightmare for millions, and caused many times more than that to endure sleepless nights.

This near collapse was followed by the government's trillion dollar bailout that did nothing more than stuff bank vaults full of Monopoly Money -- easy money followed by magic money -- manufactured out of thin air, almost none of which has been put into circulation as intended by our Socialist Congress. Perhaps this is why we have avoided, temporarily, the inflation that phantom creation of monetary supply inevitably causes.

So maybe we have the mega banks to thank for this extended period of low inflation, not the Federal Reserve. But the shoe will surely drop soon, thanks to the insane funding requirements of Obamacare. The banks will win, because they have all that cash people will desperately need to purchase milk and bread -- with their credit cards.

Nevertheless, we now have a plethora of new social programs aimed at keeping these fiscally unhealthy people in their homes, and with what result? They are continuing to lose the homes they could not afford in the first place. The keystone of wealth has fallen by the wayside. Where is the foundation of wealth beneath those folks who will probably never be able to own a home again?

There is no foundation because almost no one in America saves any of their money. We call our citizens "consumers" -- the job of a consumer is to consume, and that require spending money, not saving it. Nearly everything we have been taught about money has been wrong. And everything our young people see in movies and on TV simply fuels the insane notion that you can have all the bling immediately and with absolutely no effort. And our state legislatures want everyone to have a "living wage" instead of discontinuing their wasteful spending habits that only the taxes on that mandatory wage will support, in part.

I have no idea if anyone will ever recognize this Why not? Because they have been indoctrinated with socialism through thirteen years of elementary and secondary school, and many have gone on to four or six or eight years of additional Socialist brainwashing in the public college or university of their choice.

Go back to school and take a course or two on capitalism instead of all the socialist crap that has polluted your mind. Maybe it wll set you free.
