Worries about medical costs and insurances

So there have been countless changes this year to insurance requirements and expectations. This has me worried in a number of ways, just as I am sure that it has many of you worried, as well. The cost of things have gone up over the past few years, and I have enough trouble surviving on a regular basis with the daily stuff, let alone additional medical costs and insurances. I know I certainly can't afford to go without insurance because the cost of a stay in the hospital can be outrageous. I also know that I need to have not only enough insurance, but also the right kinds of insurance.

So I started to hunt for information to help me better understand what I need to know in order to make sure that I have enough of the right kinds of coverage. I headed over to the internet to begin my search. I found a great post on Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_insurance which provides a ton of incredible information regarding health insurance.

It covers things such as what a premium is, deductibles, co-pays, and various other useful tidbits of information. It even compares insurance structures from all over the world. I didn't really need to know so much about the structure of insurance in Australia, but I found it interesting to see how each country handles the need for covering medical costs.

I ultimately found [Link deleted per TOU] which was useful to me. They provided some invaluable information about how life insurance works, why I need it, and other forms of insurance that are available to me, as well. So here is where you guys come in. With the changes to insurance this year, what changes have you made to help keep up with legal expectations, as well as the demands of daily life? Do you have any recommendations for specific types of health plans for someone like myself, or even supplemental plans or ideas? I am self employed and really need to make sure that I am legal with the insurance that I have, as well as able to provide myself with enough coverage as to not end up in a situation that requires me to spend thousands of dollars out of pocket.

No one here knows who you are or what your circumstances are, so no one can make "any recommendations" which would be appropriate.

If you want to contact me confidentially, use the email link below. Once I know more about your situation, I can give you some ideas.
