Hi,
I think I read somewhere the max I can go without insurance without being penalized is 3 months? How is 3 months calculated? is it flat 90 days?
I can have my HR backdate my insurance till like beginning of June so the gap is 3 months but I would owe the premiums from June till now which comes out to about $600.
My question is, is it better to backdate it to June and not pay any penalty or just start my coverage from now and pay the penalty for the months that I went without insurance?
Please help.
Thanks!
I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.

If you have a gap in coverage of 3 months or longer and you're not eligible for one of the other exemptions from the penalty, you'll have to pay 1/12 of the total penalty times the number of months you were uninsured.
