Can you please give us a little more information. I am thinking that you meant a parked car?? Or it could be an automobile park?? Not trying to be funny. Please clarify yourself

Hi jacqui, please add some details to your post. The one-liner is very vague to determine anyone's responsibility for the accident.

However, if you mean ‘parked car', then if you have backed into one or have rear ended, you are likely to be at-fault. But again, its just a guess work.

Elaborate your post, I am sure, Lori, Tcope and other will definitely come forward to help you.

Yeah, both knig118 and Rupert are right. It'll be very difficult to give any verdict until and unless we are equipped with all the vital information. Admitting the responsibility of an accident can cost you dear. If you are liable then you need to pay out the damages that you have caused. And this will also affect your auto premium later. Therefore, you need to be absolutely sure before accepting the responsibility of the accident. Please, try to answer the following..

  • Describe the nature of the accident.
  • Describe the nature of the damages caused. Was anyone hurt in the accident?
  • Was police being called at the spot? Did you receive any citation?
  • Have you had any interaction with the other party? Have you exchanged insurance information with them?
  • Have you taken snaps of the damaged cars?
  • Was there any damage to your own car?

I guess, Lori will come up with some more queries before actually answering you. :D Please update us with the details, so that we can become more specific with the answers.

Regards,
Juanita

This is just my thought on this. I'm hardly an insurance specialist, and you were quite vague on the details.

If you ran into a legally parked car, then you're most likely at fault. Although, if the car was parked illegally, or deliberately parked somewhere it cannot be seen, then they may not be able to make a claim.
