more than likely it's totaled..if it was 2700 ACV last wreck and sustained 1600 in damage that you didn't repair...reduce the value to about 1k or less (maybe) and 850 or more to fix....she's likely a goner

LORI..hope you can help me on this one. I was in an accident last year, in November. I paid a $500.00 deductable and the insurance company paid the rest. NOW...I have FULL coverage through my loan, for my vehicle. However....the financing, for the car DOES NOT include a rent-a-car. My vehicle is STILL driveable..I drive it everyday. To get ALL of the wrok done, from the damage of the accident, I need to leave it at my mechanics for 3 or 4 days. Do you know if there is a website ( or something to that effect..?) that I make monthly payments, for rent-a-car coverage?

sdchargersfan, I'm not sure I'm understanding your question...are you asking if there is a place that you can now purchase rental car insurance? That you could use while your vehicle is in the shop? I need to understand something first...Or are you asking is there a rental car company that would rent you a vehicle that you could then make payments for the rental ? (no by the way if that is the question).
You shouldn't have paid any deductible until your vehicle is completed and you are satisfied with the repairs, you then pay that to the repair company...you would've been 'charged' your deductible, by it's subtraction from the claim payment but not actually paid it yet...
I have FULL coverage through my loan, for my vehicle. However....the financing, for the car DOES NOT include a rent-a-car.
Are you saying here (the above quote) that your finance company for your vehicle is carrying the insurance on it rather than purchasing a private policy? If so man, you could do so much better...Atleast the ones I've seen where the lein holder puts the insurance on the vehicle is about three times higher than a private policy would be..You might want to check on a couple of things...there are many many collision repair shops that have loaner vehicles that they provide to customers...(just to get the job)...you might call around and check on this...
SD Please explain alittle more of what you want from me...sorry I'm just not fully comprehending your question this morning...not enough coffee in me yet maybe!

I'm sorry, LORI..if I'm not explaining this clearly. The finance company, I use for my car doesn't carry 'rent-a-car' insurance on it. They said they couldn't do that on a loan for a used vehicle. Usua;;y with ANY kind of insurance, you make monthly payments, for the insurance you get. I just wanted to know if there was anything like THAT, concerning rent-a-cars. Hope I explianed this clearly (sorry you din't understand the 'first time around.') No....I haven't paid the deductable yet,....I don't have to pay that until my car is done, and I pay THAT to the shop that's repairing my car.

All auto carriers would (I'd think) offer rental car insurance, however, I don't know that they would offer it alone...but maybe...which insurance company do you have your vehicle insured with? They should be able (for a price of course) add that coverage to your policy, that really shouldn't be any problem at all.

The 'Full Coverage' I have ( of course, this was 'used' for my accident) is through Citifinancial ( where I have my vehicle financed). They said they "don't offer rent-a-car insurance. I don't know why...I THINK they said because it's a loan for a USED vehicle. Does that make sense? Do you know if I can get rent-a-car insurance through my Liability Insurance ( this is through Nationwide).

Regardless of whether they offer the coverage or not, you apparently don't have it for use on this claim. If you need a rental car for a few days, and can afford around $100 total, you can ask your insurance company to reserve you a car at their rental company of choice. I did not have rental car coverage on my policy when I got in an accident, but Nationwide was more than willing to reserve me a car at their rate which worked out to $30/day. You won't likely beat that rate if you get the car on your own.

Well..maybe I'll do that. Thanks for the advice, WIL. You said you, "lurk here alot." OMG!! I hope that's a GOOD thing?! LOL For my Liabilty, can I put in a request, to put Rent-a-car insurance on? Or does the rent-a-car insurance have to be through a 'full coverage' policy?

wait a minute here SD

Are you carrying your collision and comp coverage thru this finance company and your liablity thru nationwide? If so do yourself a favor, call your finance company and find out how much you're paying a month for this..(i'll bet a bundle) then call nationwide and see how much to add coll/comp to that policy...and yes you can add rental thru them...I have never heard of this before!Pagination
