Ted, Sorry to hear of your health problems. Did the insurance company give you any reason as to why they were cutting off your benefits? When you signed up for this insurance that you say is good thru 2033 did you keep any papers of forms from the insurance that can prove this? If so you may be able to legally do something.

Ted, you need to refer to the policy document to know the reason for denial. Also, as Firey has mentioned, has the insurance company mentioned any reason for stopping the benefits? You may also wish to negotiate the matter with the insurer presenting the disability document provided by your doctor.

You can actually move to the court against the insurer if they have breach the contract. Hence, its important to find out what's written in the policy paper.

I'm betting you have exausted your benefits from this private policy, as others have posted you need to read the contract, or call and talk with them..if it's good till 2033 it will say so...and given your discription of your disability sounds to me like you need to apply for SS disability.

Could a policy have a money limit and an exipiration time? In other woeds he may have had benefits up until the year of 2033 unless he used them all before that. I am thinking of a policy my husband had wiht a previous employer for health care. There was a lifetime limit on it. I wonder if this is the case.

Sure it can, the one I have (private plan that i pay for thru my employer) has as an example ''if qualified disability'' say 6mts at full pay then ''potentially'' thur retirement age at 60% of my present wages..

In other woeds he may have had benefits up until the year of 2033

this is the part that confuses me...i'd like to see how that is written and what qualifications are required for that...

could be most health care (group ones anyway) will say something like, ''life time benefit up to 1 million dollars'' so which ever comes first you die, or hit the 1mil...then the policy is over.

I agree. Definitely give them a call and try to find out more about what happened and why you were denied. Don't let this fall by the wayside without checking into it more. Don't just accept it. Maybe there's a loophole somewhere. In any case you'll know in the future what to do and what to avoid.

do you know the reasons why the insurance company terminated your policy benefits? you may want to read up on your policy documents again and call up the insurance company for more information. dont let just let it be.

i suppose that you're currently unemployed. in the meanwhile, you could search for information on unemployment benefits. this is so that in case your disability insurance policy didn't work through, at least you'll have something to fall back on.
