At times I wonder if there's disability insurance for the athletes too. I do come across so many of them at the college.

Max,

Reading comprehension is needed.

A student athlete who will be signing a professional contract is not the same as a student athlete who has already signed a professional contract.

The star basketball player who decides to come back to college for one more year instead of turning pro is still a student athlete and can get disability coverage.

So what's inconsistent with what I wrote? Please comprehend this:

Student athletes who sign professional contracts are no longer student athletes

Nothing you've written is incorrect nor is it inconsistent with what I wrote. Except that the act of actually signing a contract (compared to a letter of intent) prevents the athlete from playing at the student level.

Yes, what you said is correct. It's also meaningless and isn't answering any question that has been asked. It's like saying that the color red starts with the letter "r".

The question is whether college athletes can get disability coverage. The answer is "Yes, it is possible."

Now, will the casual college athlete be able to get a policy? No. Will a college athlete with a strong possibility of being able to sign a pro contract able to get coverage? Yes.

I almost wonder if Reggie Bush would have been covered while he was going to USC and that whole scandal.

Any athlete who will be signing a big fat contract would be foolish to not have coverage. The star running back is one hit away from never getting that pro contract.
