Just look at your pay stub, check before and after post tax dollar standard dections have been taken. Your net earings are the same .You can also look at the statement you recieve from Social Security showing your years of employment and earings record. This will show years you worked, Your Taxed Social Security Earnings And your Taxed Medicare earnings. Finally showing they were taken from your gross income alone with federal and state taxes . From post tax Dollars!

SSI is an insurance offered by your state level ,completely different from FICA which is for people of retirement age ,unless determined to be disabled before age 62.The only reason it takes so long to finally recieve disability benefits is because of the protocol forced on the Social Security Administration by our goverment to deny every claim .In hopes that the person will give up their efforts to obtain benefits. I heard from a friend that all moms of multiples he's ever known has gone on SSDI since they've not been able to work. I'm at wee 33 day 5 and am going to have a c-section scheduled during week 37. I haven't been able to work since November - substitute teaching is too hard when you can't fit well between the student desks and you're not allowed to stay at the teacher's desk or the class will be unruly. The job has NO benefits, so my job has no short term or long term disability.
Can I apply for SSDI?

SMst,
You can definitely apply or and be awarded SSDI as long as you are able to prove that your disability makes you unable to perfrom your job, and unable to perform at any other job for that matter. If your need more information I used www.socialsecurity-disability.org for any questions during my application process. Best of luck![/url]

True, but only to a point. You must also
1. Be both "fully" and "disability" insured through Social Security to be benefit eligible. This is accomplished through payroll taxation (FICA) over a period of years.
2. You must have a disability that will either (1) last at least 12 months, or (2) result in your death; and,
3. You must be unable to work at pretty much any gainful occupation.
Oh yeah- don't forget about the 5-month waiting period before benefits will be awarded (payable on month 6).
THEN... you MIGHT get your SSDI benefits. Still, good luck on that one!
