My daughter is now at college and lives in a dormitory. Will my homeowner policy cover the possessions she took with her against damage or theft?

Yes, it will provide the coverage for the personal belongings of your daughter. Check with your agent for the specific amount of coverage.

Your homeowner policy the property away from home and the limit is 10% of the contents coverage in general. For example if the home is insured for $100,000 and the contents are covered amounting to $50,000, the property away from home is covered for $5,000 – minus the policy's deductible.
In addition to that if your daughter is under 26 then most personal belongings are covered. But for the expensive items, it may require additional coverage.
