weather question

Does anyone know enough about weather and seasonal trends or even the farmers almanac to know?

If we have a dry winter does that mess with the water table for the following year? I thought the melting snow contributed to the water table? Although I am enjoying these 53 degree days for January, I am wondering just how or if it will affect my well, my lawn and my garden this following year.

I am serious about this question, I do a great deal of gardening and canning and if there is a negative affect on it becauses of lack of snow, I would like to know.

The personal injury attorney's probably hate this type of weather, there commercials are set to air with the snow storms so you already have it in your head before an accident already happens, LOL. But they are not the ones with a hose in their hands come summer, Ummmmm, that would be me.

You know I have never thought quite about it like that before, always dreaded winter coming, but you may have just made me love it, No, higher utility bills, higher gas prices, have to wear a heavier coat, bad roads to travel in the winter, I am right back at hating winter again.

I am not real sure about the water table and if it has anything to do with it, I would assume if there was alot of snow it would. Maybe someone will come along and know about this kind of stuff and let you know, I am clueless. sorry

I don't care for the winter months at all, I hate the high utility bills and everything that comes along with the nasty weather, believe me, I side with you here.

I was wondering how it will affect the water table through out next summer, if at all. Hopefully someone will know. I do a lot of gardening and don't want to get through a winters worth of bills and find no water come summer.

I don't like winter, its to cold to go outside and do anything. I would think yes, makes perfect sense that snow melting would contribute. We have had a lot of rain this winter.Does anyone remember how many inches of snow make an inch of rain? Or vice versa? I would like to figure out how many inches of snow we would have gotten if we had gotten snow instead of rain.We had a drought this summer and everyone started selling their horses dirt cheap. The cows are now selling cheap because people flooded the market selling them cause they could not feed them through the winter. becasue of the drought there was not enough hay.We are just getting by ourselves. We acquired 2 new horses for our daughter.

I garden too, erb, I think the amount of snow fall and depending on the rate it melts would have to have something to do with the water table. I think that you should be okay this year, we have had enough snow and rain through out this winter so far, at least where I live.

Either way, happy gardening!

Erb,you like horses? I love them .She got one,6 months old, we aren't sure what it is .The other is a Tennessee Walking horse 2 years olds. We already had a 22 year old Tennessee walking. We also have a quarter horse Appaloosa mix. My daughter has broken 2 to ride.

You sound like my younger sister hummingbird, she has a couple of horses, I don't have the room for them, I used to get one every summer growing up until I went into the service, my parents always sold them before winter because they did not want to buy the feed in the winter, broke my heart every time.

My sister has an older mare, when she got her she was skin and bones, she was in a herd and was the weakest, barely got any food. Her husband brought home two foals, they are beautiful, they were 6 months old when he brought them home they are just over a year now, not sure, but they look like they have some quarter horse or morgan in them. And then she has a couple of those little fellows that only grow waist high, LOL, they are so funny, the one you have to push him to make him move, they are cute, but I can't imagine getting any real work out of them. Her amish neighbors think she is crazy, LOL.

She has many other animals, she has the land to do it, I only have an acre and a half, so I only have 4 dogs, 4 peacocks, 2 cats and 1 rabbit. No room for any big animals to run and I won't get them like my neighbors.,and make them do circles or moved from spot to spot to eat grass on a rope that gets all tangled up in bushes, I have went by and could just stop and scream at these idiots. One horse broke free and was running for days. Have neighbors that do that, drives me crazy, horses in mud up to there knees, I wonder how often they clean the hooves, probably never. They are not too bright and should not have these horses, I think they must take them to auction they have a trailer and I always see different ones there.

I haven't riden a horse in years. My knees are to weak. I can only watch my daughter play with them and ride them. But I still love having them around. She has a gift with horses. She can make them lie down and put their heads in her lap. It is amazing. She saddled and rode a 6 month old. Of course she only did it the one time to see if she could. Its a large colt.We have 34 acreas and cows and goats. My daughter would have a fit if we sold any of her horses. We did sell a mini once but she wanted to cause he was a stallion. Then we sold a couple babies form her first pony.It is sad about the people and the horses but it happens.

We had peacocks once but they would never stay they would fly away.

Peacocks, maybe at the zoo, lol, I don't have any animals after my dog died, I have a very small yard. Sounds like your daughter is a natural, how old is she?

You should call the local humane society goodnatured if you think that the place that your neighbors are not housing or feeding the horses properly, they are not just for dogs, they do every kind of animal.
