My wife moved all the belongings out of our house and a couple of days later the house caught fire and burnt completely down. She filled out the inventory list and included all the items that she removed from the house. I gave a diposition (euo) and have coroperated with the insurance company. Just got a letter saying that the claim was denied for Concealment, false statements and fraud (dah). I contacted the insurance company and they said that they will probably not file any charges. Its no wonder our insurance preminiums are so high when people get away with this kind of things. I live in the state of Missouri so if you want to set fire to your house this is the state to do it.

Are you upset that no criminal charges were filed? Did you lose any property yourself in the fire? If so...your policy has an 'innocent co-insured' claus..can you (or anyone) prove she set the fire?

Yeah...what's the deal here? Good point about the policy provision, too, Lori.

Not that this will be much help, but if you could explain the situation a little more in-depth, that would help us guide you.

Lastly, what kind of intelligence thinks that this scheme could actually work? OP- you said that the house "caught fire" and the whole thing burned down. With no personal possessions in the house. Great idea to claim the items that she removed from the house prior to the fire. There wouldn't be any evidence of the burned items in the home when the insurance company went to inspect the loss. I'm sorry, but c'mon- you gotta be kidding....

to be honest I have no clue........ The agent received a letter to set up an interview regarding a matter, which came to a surprise because he hasnt worked in the insurance for about 6 months since the last company he worked for.
